Rama, Lakshmana and Sugriva leave for Kishkindha. Sugriva challenges Bali to a duel. Bali accepts the challenge and the combat begins. Sri Rama hides behind a tree to shoot an arrow at Bali and dispose him of. But as the combat progresses, Rama finds it difficult to distinguish the two vanara brothers from each other. Sugriva is seriously wounded. He flees for life. Rama douses Sugriva’s anger by giving the reason for his inaction. Lakshmana ties a creeper around Sugriva’s neck to distinguish him. Sugriva challenges Bali a second time. Bali accepts it. The combat begins. Rama sends forth his arrow at Bali and slays him. Sugriva ascends the throne of Kishkindha and Angada, the son of Bali, is appointed yuvaraja.
