Indra sends his divine chariot and charioteer to Rama. The Lord ascends the chariot and a ferocious battle with Ravana follows. The gods watch the combat between good and evil with bated breath. Sage Agastya initiates Rama in Adityahridaya mantra which has the potency to destroy enemies. Sri Rama shoots the Brahmastra which pierces Ravana’s heart. The ten headed rakshasa is dead. The gods hail the Lord and shower flowers on him. Sri Rama heaps his praise on the conspicuous valour of Ravana. He directs Vibhishana to perform Ravana’s last rites. Vibhishana then ascends the throne of Lanka.
